You can fight hunger now, a few grains of rice at a time

This week’s Computer Ed activity is focused on the idea of one small individual working together with others to accomplish a huge task.

One ant can’t accomplish a lot on its own, but an entire colony of ants can move a large object. One grain of rice might not seem like a lot, but hundreds or thousands or millions or billions of grains of rice can feed a whole family, a village, or a nation.

You might not be able to end world hunger alone, but as part of a large group of individuals each doing a little bit to help, you can contribute to those who are in need.

About Dr.Winkler

The name of our guest speaker is Dr.Winkler. He Talked about the facts that happened during the holocaust.

Dr. Winkler’s presentation made feel uneasy, upset and disturbed because of the photos.

Reflection of the Guest Speaker

It was nice that the guest speaker came and spoke with us. My favorite part was that he was wearing a tie that had a Brachiosaurus head on it. Steven Speilberg even liked the tie. The main topic of what the speaker spoke about was that there are still people being victimized today. He taught me about the children on the continent of Africa. I feel terrible that those children have to live like that. I also feel terrible about bullying. I don’t think that people should bully anyone.

My Refelction on Assembly

My reflection on the guest speaker was I was sad to hear of whats going on in some parts of the country and how some of those people are suffering.
Dr. Winkler had a good point on what was going on in certain areas of the country and how we shouldn’t’ judge other people and not have prejudice against them
Dr. Wrinkler was also talking about the holocaust and how bad a time it was lots of children were holding guns and the Jews were held captive during that war and we are just so lucky to not be in that time period because it would not be good to live then.
My comment on this topic is we shouldn’t have prejudice against any person because its not good to judge them so we should have a world without prejudice.

Paul Winkler

I Did not attend the public speaker, but I can relate to the topic.  The topic was focused on the hatred among people in terms of bullying.  I have been bullied and pushed around to the point of retaliation.  In the past I came close to the point of doing physical harm because I let those bullies get under my skin.  At that point I blamed others for my issues and as a result, became unassociated with most peers.  As of now I can resolve my issues positively, but I show 0 tollerance for bullying as well as showing hatred towards others for no reason.

Relevance in the form of life.

(As a note I wasn’t there to witness the guest speaker)

Throughout my life I have experienced much as to the definition of hate. Point to point gun fights,

racial slurring, and plain bullying. I used to live in the worst of neighborhoods in New York, there was

so much fighting everyday.  Even my best of friends would threaten my life at times,  these are a few

reasons of why I am in a private school system. The point being hate exists everywhere, it’s mankinds

will to be better than somebody else.

We are truly a race that cannot live without battle/hate.

Reflection on Assembly

I was not present at the assembly on Wednesday, but since they discussed bullying, I give to you my personal experience on being bullied. Every society experiences some form of hate or another; even disabled people. I have been bullied in public school for my disabilities. I have both Aspergers’ and Tourette’s. Tourette’s Syndrome is a disorder characterized by tics. I have been made fun of my tics all throughout my public school years. I have also been made fun of and bullied because of the fact that I was “different” from the other public school kids. In 5th grade, there was this one boy who verbally tormented me. Unfortunately, he was in my class, so it was very difficult to avoid him. He would ask me the same question every day at lunch time, just to see my reaction to him. He would ask, “Did you take a shower?” I, not knowing better, would answer back. When we got to 6th grade, he was expelled from the middle school for an unrelated incident. I was free from that boy forever, but I was not free from the role of the victim. Other kids in Glen Landing Midde School made fun of me. Besides my disabilities, I was made fun of for my knack of geography. kids at lunch time would “quiz” me on my state capitals, asking me fake questions to hopefully trick me. I came to dread going to school. In 7thh grade, things took a turn for the better. I came to Y.A.L.E. I became accepted. Now I know better than to give in to bullying. All I have to do is ignore.

Holocaust Assembly

The assembly was pretty interesting. Being Jewish, I thought the Holocaust was pretty depressing. I also learned that when you see someone being bullied, you should help the person being bullied instead of just ignoring it. I have been both a victim and a bully, so I can see both sides of it.
